The Future Research Institute serves as NEM’s innovation hub, dedicated to advancing technological and process innovation in high-end fine chemicals and advanced materials. It works closely with industry partners, research institutes, and universities to create an integrated platform combining production, education, research, and application.

Leveraging NEMs experience in 863 Program technology commercialization, the Institute conducts forward-looking, scientific, and strategic exploration in areas such as technological innovation, process optimization, and industrial application, aiming to become a globally influential industrial innovation center for high-end fine chemicals and advanced materials.

Core Research Directions

1. Frontier R&D in High-end Fine Chemicals

Focused on innovative synthesis routes and extreme cost optimization for high-end fine chemicals. Through close collaboration with downstream customers, the Institute develops products aligned with evolving industrial needs, enabling faster product upgrades and technological advancement.

2. High-performance and Functional Advanced Materials

Based on advanced monomer development and controlled polymerization technologies, the Institute drives structural innovation and performance enhancement of polymers and specialty chemicals. Our focus is on developing high-performance composite materials and functional chemicals that meet the requirements of extreme environments, lightweighting, and intelligent manufacturing, breaking through the bottlenecks in material applications in high-end manufacturing.

3. Green Chemistry and Sustainable Technologies

Dedicated to developing high atom-efficiency, low-energy, low-emission green synthesis processes. The Institute actively explores bio-based and recyclable feedstocks, and promotes the resource utilization of by-products and waste, establishing an environmentally friendly technology system across the entire product lifecycle.

4. Industry–Academia–Research Collaboration & Commercialization

The Institute builds an open and collaborative innovation ecosystem, integrating talent, technology, and resources. Through systematic commercialization and scale-up mechanisms, research outcomes are rapidly translated into industrial applications. Leveraging extensive industrialization experience, NEM provides partners with end-to-end solutions from laboratory testing and pilot trials to mass production, reducing commercialization risks and trial-and-error costs.
