Development History

Phase V (2023–Present)

2023: Construction of the NEM Greater Bay Area Manufacturing Headquarters Base officially commenced.

November 20, 2023: NEM Chemical Co.,Ltd.” was officially renamed “NEM Materials Co.Ltd.

December 2025: “The Fine Chemicals and Advanced Materials Pilot-Scale Platform”, led by NEM (Zhongshan), was officially recognized as a Guangdong Provincial Pilot-Scale Platform.


Phase IV (2019–2022)

2019: A 20,000 t/y GBL production unit was completed and put into operation.

December 2019: ZDVC Group acquired a controlling stake in NEM

2020: NEM launched an intelligent big data platform for chemical enterprises.

2021: Successful acquisition of 165 mu (≈ 27.18 Acres) of new project land.

2022: Construction of the NEM Pilot-Scale Industrialization Base officially commenced.


Phase III (2011–2018)

2011: ZDVC, the investment fund under ZDVC Group, invested in NEM.

2012: Completion of a 20,000 t/y integrated GBL & NMP production unit.

February 2014: The company completed its shareholding reform and changed its name to: NEM Chemical Co., Ltd.

November 12, 2014: Successfully listed on the National Equities Exchange and Quotations (NEEQ) system.

2015: A 5,000 t/y NEP and 1,000 t/y DVL unit has been completed and put into operation.

2017: Completion of a 20,000 t/y NMP production unit and an 8,000 t/y NMP recycling unit.


Phase II (2002–2010)

June 24, 2002: Puyang Yunfeng Chemical Plant was restructured into Puyang NEM Fine Chemical Co., Ltd.

2003: Completed the renovation of the 1000 t/y GBL & NMP combined production unit; in September, the company produced NMP with a purity of 99.86%, exceeding the 99.8% benchmark of international peers such as BASF (Germany) and Mitsubishi Chemical (Japan).

2006: The company was renamed Puyang NEM Technology Co., Ltd.

2007: A 12,000 t/y NMP production unit was completed and put into operation.

2008: Technical upgrade of a 1,000 t/y NEP production unit.

2009: A 12,000 t/y GBL plant has been completed and put into operation.


Phase I (1996–2001)

May 3, 1996: The predecessor of NEM, Puyang Yunfeng Chemical Plant, was established. In June 1997, construction of the N-Methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) production unit commenced.

August 16, 1998: The NMP project of Puyang Yunfeng Chemical Plant was officially put into operation. As one of the earliest integrated GBL & NMP production units in China with large-scale capacity (1,000 t/y), the project became a key example of the commercialization of research achievements from the 863 Program by the Research Institute of Petroleum Processing.


Pre-Establishment Phase (1993–1995)

1993: The Puyang High-Tech Industrial Development Zone initiated preliminary studies and feasibility assessments for the N-Methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) project through technology matchmaking with the Research Institute of Petroleum Processing, Sinopec.

November 14, 1995: The NMP project successfully obtained official project approval from the Puyang High-Tech Industrial Development Zone.
